Child Abduction Statistics

Times have changed... It takes an entire community to keep children safe and protect children from harm.

Abductions take place at schools, parks, fairs, supermarkets and other public places.

Dangerous offenders often seem nice and professional looking  — and they're not always adults, nor are they always men. They could be a friend, a baby-sitter, the neighbor who lets them pet her dog, or a child who's been enlisted to help a predator. They are experts at seeming friendly, safe, helpful, kind, loving and generous. They might ask for help or seem sad or lonely. They might wear a uniform, preach religion, or teach social studies. They might just be passing through, or they might have lived next to you for years.

Pay attention to people who visit your home, and pay particular attention to how you feel about them. Don't dismiss any uncomfortable feelings you or your children have around them. Don't tell yourself it's just paranoia. If your children tell you they don't like someone, listen to them. Often, children are more alert than adults to what their instincts are telling them.

Don't assume that teenagers are safe. Teenagers  — both girls and boys  — are often targeted by sexual predators because they are heading into puberty. Teens are sexually interesting to predators, but generally not yet strong enough to fight back on their own.

Some more Child Safety Statistics

Many children cannot remember their address or phone number and 98 out of 100 children NEVER carry personal identification. We suggest for them to carry a child id card especially before the age of 16.

Over 100 million emergency room visits are made each year by children while 1 out of 3 emergency room patients are unable to give fast, accurate medical or emergency information. Our child id kits are handy in case of emergencies for both parents and caregivers.

25% of the population has medical conditions that should be known to medical providers and many parents do not remember the type of medication their children take. We recommend a child medical id bracelet for such purposes.
